Air Traffic Services Manager
Blackpool Airport Operations Ltd (BAOL) is an important hub for aviation and employment for the Fylde Coast, providing a gateway to the North Wests business and leisure destinations, with 40,000 movements last year.
Our based and visiting customers include offshore gas support operations, corporate aircraft operations and handling facilities, helicopter maintenance repair and overhaul, charter flights, fixed wing and rotary flight training, military aircraft, medevac operations, the Spitfire Museum and we host the annual Blackpool Air Show.
BAOL is currently undergoing a period of significant, transformational change. Planning applications have been submitted for development of “Airport East” to incorporate new GA and MRO hangars, new ATC and RFFS facilities and a new fuel farm.
Further development is planned around new corporate aircraft hangars and FBO facility once the physical development of Airport East has commenced. These developments will support our Ten Year Plan targeting expansion of the corporate aircraft operations, bringing MRO companies and aviation support organisations to the airport, and the likely return of regional domestic scheduled passenger services.
The Role
The Air Traffic Services Manager (ATSM) is a member of the Airport’s Senior Leadership team (SLT) and is responsible to the Managing Director and Board for the management of Air Traffic, Air Traffic Engineering and Meteorological Services for the Airport, ensuring we maintain regulatory compliance for the maintenance of our ANSP Certification, and for continuing to meet our current and future customer requirements.
The ATSM is also responsible for the overall direction and supervision of ATC and personnel, recognising the importance of Human Factors ensuring staff are trained to meet requirements, being able to assess and provide best practice guidance and providing subject matter expert advice to the Managing Director, SLT and the Board.
The Offer
- Competitive salary
- Pension scheme
- Generous annual leave allowances (plus bank holidays)
- Health cover via Simply Health
- Professional training opportunities
- Relocation assistance (if required)
The Area
Living on the Fylde Coast means being within easy travelling distance of Blackpool with its multiple entertainment, tourism, seasonal attractions and Promenades. The villages of Lytham St Annes are on the doorstep, each with their own character and with easy access to miles of beach, as are Poulton-Le-Fylde and Lancaster.
The Lakes District, Yorkshire Dales and Peaks National Parks are within easy reach, as is Forest of Bowland, Liverpool and Manchester, the last two being home to a few well known football clubs!
Why BAOL?
Our need for a new ATSM opens the door for the right candidate to be an integral part of the BAOL team generally, and specifically for leading and managing a motivated, engaged and highly professional ATC team as we collectively deliver on our Ten Year Plan.
This is a very real opportunity to be part of the development of the airport and business, with far reaching positive effects for the successful candidate, the BAOL team and the local and regional community.
